diamonds in the rough

it's monday yet again. and it's....june? where has time gone? at least mondays come with monday musings...right? ;)

i've been looking through my photo collections and making note of ones i want to turn into blog posts. as i collect all of them, i realize how some of them are a wee bit fuzzy. i love this fuzziness though--it gives moments a realness (that a word?) to them and a better "behind-the-scenes" feel that i always strive to capture when i pick up my camera. pictures like these always take me back to when my adrenaline rushes when i know a moment is happening and i scramble to get my camera in focus.

here's an "outtake" but really, one of my favorites from an engagement session i did a month and a half ago. it's a real beauty.

here's to finding joys in mondays!

concrete jungle

for whatever reason, i have this affinity for subways desaturated to black and white when i photograph new york city. perhaps its the main mode of movement, where its people practically live because of their commutes. in my mind, the lack of color actually brings out the life and movement of the city, as it has always been known as a concrete jungle.

(note: i have yet to see any rats, but the kid in me believes there's a world of rats similar to remy from ratatouille.)

these pictures are from my iPhone from my weekend trip up to the city last weekend. indulgence and creativity were ample those couple of days, but this weekend is going to be one of much rest and relaxation before another season of photography picks up again. talk to you monday~
