up close and personal x berlin

just roll with me here. pretend you're my crossbody bag and tagged along. this is what you'd see a month ago.

scroll through my favorite day in berlin consisting of food, strolling, and open air farmer markets. funny how the simple things of everyday seem exotic and even more captivating abroad. this is the last of europe...i swear!!

birkenstocks and bikes

my quest for birkenstocks proves that my love for europe has heightened instead of diminish. these shots i'm sharing doesn't showcase how wonderful it is over there. are you googling flight deals or heading to expedia just yet?

just in!

it's like christmas morning every time i get an email from indie film lab. you never know how your pictures are going to turn out because you're trusting your instinct the moment you take these pictures. part of the butterflies and excitement are also because film colors capture the city in a way digital never could. do i sound lofty or too hipster?

i'll be sharing tons of stuff soon. for now, here's a picture from my quick stopover in berlin! kind of obsessed. it's unedited--straight out of the camera and taken around 7 pm. that's a big deal people!

when in berlin, part 2

ayyyye! it's wednesday! you and i both need a pick-me-up, hence this post. work itself has been crazier than ever before, and so has life...with summer jams, gatherings, and parties. let's teleport to berlin for a sec shall we?

as i look through my pictures once more, i'm reminded of why berlin is unique. it's rich in german history, composed of sadness, recovery, and hope as the city finds itself once more following the gray overcast of the holocaust and separation of east and west berlin that happened decades prior.

even so, berlin has blossomed into an artist's city. every wall is covered with graffiti of various fonts, lines, shapes. i've never seen the graffiti covered with more graffiti or the government attempting to paint it over. clearly, craftsmanship of all kinds is valued.

being back in europe made me fall in love with the notion of simple enjoyment again, meaning no more excessive texting, phone staring, or scheduling. like many other european cities, berlin showcased the city best by being on our foot. there's a fair amount of biking in berlin which i didn't get a chance to do but hope to try during my next europe visit.

now let's begin to uncover what i found absolutely lovely about this city.

from top to bottom: a church in central berlin, neighborhood sights my first evening in berlin, train station in northern berlin, remnants of the berlin wall, an adorable boy i snuck a picture of in the morning while grabbing breakfast, mom and daughter on a saturday morning, kollwitzplatz morning market, and finally the charlottenburg palace.

this isn't the last of berlin you'll see, but did i convince you to book tickets to europe yet? you should; you really should--and i'd love to be your travel buddy.

still, being back in dc has its own adventures. i'm sure wherever you are, you have yours too.

talk to you later--back to real work and life we go.

all pictures were taken with my iPhone and edited with vscocam.
